Finding Light in a World of Shadows: A Day of Unexpected Kindness

Opinion Piece, By Gloria Allen

Good Outshines Bad

In this world, we live in, where we can watch wars on the other side of the world in real-time, and we are bombarded with images of cruelty constantly in our living rooms, it’s easy to believe that evil and bad have succeeded in monopolizing our world. But today, I saw the good in our world outshine the bad.

Their World is a Happy Place

My day started by going to SGS to watch the Christmas Programs. When I walked into the gym, it was full of people, and I thought I was going to have to stand. I looked up, and there was my niece waving and letting me know that there was a seat there. The programs were great, with a focus on Jesus, and seeing the children happy showed me their world is a happy place.

Lost and Found

When the program was over, and I left, I remembered putting $100 in my pocket. When I looked for it, I couldn’t find it. I figured I had dropped it when I pulled my keys out, so I went back and looked but couldn’t find it. I assumed it was just gone but thought I would call and check with the school anyway. One of the parents had found it and brought it into the office.

It Didn’t Go Unnoticed

Later, my aunts and I went to eat at the Chinese Restaurant, and we saw a nephew and his family. When we got ready to leave, we were told that our meal was already paid for. So today reinforced my belief that although there is bad in the world, ultimately the good outshines the bad. And I want to say thank you to all the people who showed me the good in the world today. It’s much appreciated and did not go unnoticed.
