Two Big Sandy region projects have received more than $2.28 million through the Appalachian Regional Commission’s POWER Initiative. TEK Center, Inc. will receive $1,765,720 to advance construction of its new campus in Magoffin County, aimed at expanding workforce development and job training. Martin County will receive $521,739 to develop a commercial kitchen and food-based business incubator inside the historic Martin County Courthouse. An additional $100,000 was awarded to Metals Innovation Initiative, Inc. to develop a metals certification program serving coal communities across Eastern Kentucky.
