Bobby McCool For State Representative 97th District is highlighting programs helping veterans transition into civilian careers and maintain financial stability following a Sept. 16 meeting of the Interim Joint Committee on Veterans, Military Affairs and Public Protection. Kentucky VALOR reported 2,767 veterans in its pipeline and 249 Kentucky job placements, with an average salary above $64,000 and a 94 percent retention rate. The program connects transitioning service members with employers, education, apprenticeships and accelerated licensing pathways. USA Cares reported providing nearly $1.94 million in assistance to 485 Kentucky families during the 2024-26 budget cycle. The organization told lawmakers its available state funding was exhausted June 30, resulting in maximum assistance being reduced from $10,000 to $1,500.
