The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Flood Watch for much of Eastern Kentucky today, Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon, with rainfall chances peaking during the afternoon and evening. Multiple storms could track over the same areas, increasing the risk of flash flooding. Residents should remain alert, particularly near creeks, streams and low-lying areas.
