Angela Marie Oney of Pikeville is facing a second-degree animal cruelty charge following an investigation at Dempsey Housing in Warfield. According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy was flagged down by a resident who reported two dogs being kept in cages near a riverbank. The deputy found the dogs without food or water and covered in feces. One dog reportedly had a severe tail injury. Residents told the deputy the dogs had been left unattended for at least two days. Authorities subsequently contacted Oney, who reportedly acknowledged that the dogs belonged to her but gave conflicting accounts of their ownership.
