Mountain Association has been awarded $2 million through the Appalachian Regional Commission’s POWER Initiative to support economic development across Appalachian Kentucky. The two-year project will focus on businesses and projects tied to housing, childcare, food access and disaster recovery while expanding access to capital and technical assistance for small businesses. Mountain Association says the project is expected to serve 450 businesses, create 50 new businesses and 150 jobs, retain 120 existing jobs and leverage $6 million in private investment. The organization and its partners will provide an additional $500,000 in matching funds.
