Herald Whitaker Middle School, South Magoffin Elementary and the Knott/Magoffin Drug Abuse Council have received opioid-related funding through Magoffin County’s local allocation process. Herald Whitaker Middle School plans to use its funding for Pathways to Purpose, combining opioid prevention education with early career exploration and skills development. South Magoffin Elementary will purchase evidence-based curriculum for students in kindergarten through sixth grade focused on decision-making, healthy coping, resilience and substance misuse prevention. The Knott/Magoffin Drug Abuse Council will fund its Accountability/Removing Barriers project, supporting prevention, outreach, harm reduction, treatment and recovery efforts while working to reduce barriers to care.
