Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state buildings to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Sunday, Oct. 4, in honor of Kentucky State Police Trooper Hayden W. Phillips, who was killed in the line of duty Monday. Phillips, 28, joined Kentucky State Police in 2023 and served at Post 3 in Bowling Green. Before becoming a state trooper, he served with the Glasgow Police Department and as a seasonal firefighter. Funeral services are scheduled for noon CDT Sunday at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, followed by interment at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Beshear is encouraging individuals, businesses and organizations across Kentucky to also lower their flags in Phillipsโ€™ honor.
