The Paintsville Police Department has announced several downtown road closures beginning Wednesday as preparations get underway for the Kentucky Apple Festival. Closures include the City Parking Lot beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, along with portions of 2nd Street and Broadway Street beginning at 5 p.m. Additional closures affecting Court Street, Main Street, College Street and Broadway Street are scheduled to begin Thursday. Police say officers will be stationed throughout the festival. Bicycles, golf carts, scooters and ATVs will not be permitted downtown during the festival, with an exception for motorized scooters used by people with disabilities. Anyone experiencing an emergency should call 911 or locate an officer. An information booth will also be available at Main Street and College Street.
