More than 1,200 votes were cast in an Appalachia Insider poll asking readers which Eastern Kentucky festival they look forward to most each year, with Paintsville Apple Days taking the top spot. The final results: โ€ข Paintsville Apple Days: 538 votes, 42.4% โ€ข Pikeville Hillbilly Days: 273 votes, 21.5% โ€ข Floyd County Jenny Wiley Days: 192 votes, 15.1% โ€ข Magoffin Founders Day: 159 votes, 12.5% โ€ข Morgan County Sorghum Festival: 78 votes, 6.2% โ€ข Royalton Walnut Festival: 28 votes, 2.2% A total of 1,268 votes were cast across the six choices. Readers also highlighted other regional traditions in the comments, including the Martin County Harvest Festival, Septemberfest in Louisa, Red White and Blue Days in Martin, Community Day and the Mountain Grrl Experience. The poll was an informal survey of Appalachia Insider readers and is not intended to represent a scientific sample of Eastern Kentucky residents.
