A 46-year-old man was pronounced dead and a woman was airlifted for medical treatment after the two were discovered at the foot of Lockegee Rock in Rowan County early Saturday morning. According to the Rowan County Coroner’s Office, hikers discovered the pair and called 911. Rowan County EMS, Morehead Fire Department, Farmers Fire Department and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office responded. The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The woman was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital. The circumstances remain under investigation by the Rowan County Coroner’s Office and Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
