R/S-Godwin Truck Body Co. is planning a $17.28 million expansion in Floyd County that is expected to create 65 full-time jobs. The company plans to expand its land, buildings and machinery to increase production, with new positions in welding, fabrication, CNC plasma, press brake work, material handling and other skilled trades. R/S-Godwin is also working to acquire more than seven adjacent acres for future growth. A preliminary state incentive agreement calls for an average hourly wage of $35.84, including benefits, across the new positions. The company could qualify for up to $2.1 million in performance-based tax incentives if investment and employment targets are met. R/S-Godwin began locally in 1968 and now operates a 165,000-square-foot manufacturing facility focused on dump body production.
