A female hiker missing since midday Monday was safely rescued early Tuesday following a technical rope rescue involving Morgan and Wolfe County search and rescue teams. Three Morgan County rescuers located the woman but encountered terrain too difficult for a safe walkout. Wolfe County’s team responded around 1:30 a.m. and established a rope system to extract all four individuals from a 100-foot cliff with three vertical sections and heavy vegetation. The operation required four lowering and raising cycles and concluded successfully around 6 a.m. Wolfe County Search & Rescue praised Morgan County’s team for locating the hiker and requesting specialized assistance.
