🚨 MARTIN COUNTY PLANS SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS TO COMBAT ILLEGAL DUMPING
Appalachia Insider · October 21, 2026
Martin County officials plan to install surveillance cameras at Inez Mountain and Camp Branch following repeated incidents of illegal dumping.
According to The Mountain Citizen, county workers have repeatedly cleaned up discarded household trash, toilets, shingles and other debris at Inez Mountain, only to find more waste dumped afterward. Officials say warning signs installed at the location were also stolen.
During the October 7 Solid Waste Board meeting, officials also reported sending 400 letters to property owners over garbage collection violations.
Residents were reminded that waste tires can be dropped off at the Martin County Road and Bridge Department, 45 Tomahawk Road in Inez, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The board also discussed confusion surrounding the county’s rules for collecting bulky household items, including furniture.
