“We deserve better than watching money come into Eastern Kentucky and then leave our economies.” Dr. Mikel C Wein, independent candidate for Congress in Kentucky’s 5th District, says Eastern Kentucky has spent generations watching wealth leave the region while local communities are left to carry the burden. Wein believes the future should look different, with more support for locally owned businesses, stronger community benefit agreements, and investments that create opportunity here at home. He says Eastern Kentucky’s people, land, and history should be building stability for the communities that live here, not just value for someone else. For Wein, the message is simple: the people of this region should share in the future they help create.
