Meteorologist Jim Caldwell, a Magoffin County native familiar to Kentucky television viewers, has been elected to the Winchester City Commission and is set to serve as Vice Mayor. Caldwell received 2,858 votes in Tuesday’s General Election, finishing first among seven candidates competing for four commission seats. Caldwell confirmed to Appalachia Insider that his position as the top vote-getter also places him in the role of Vice Mayor. Following the election, Caldwell thanked Winchester residents for their support, describing himself as “a kid from the mountains” and pledging to serve the entire community, regardless of how residents voted.
