The Floyd County Health Department has announced plans for Floyd County Fresh, a new initiative designed to improve access to nutritious food while supporting better health outcomes.
The program will allow eligible participants to receive produce prescriptions redeemable for fresh fruits and vegetables.
Participants will also have access to nutrition education from registered dietitians, healthy recipes, and guidance on developing healthier eating habits.
Funded through the Kentucky Department for Public Health’s State Physical Activity and Nutrition (SPAN) Program, the initiative aims to connect healthcare, nutrition, and local agriculture.
The program has not officially launched. Details regarding eligibility, enrollment, participating farmers, and the launch date will be announced later.
