Eastern Kentucky residents needing help with heating costs can begin applying for the Fall Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) on Monday, November 9. The application period runs through December 18, 2026, with assistance available to eligible households. Applications will be accepted through local Community Action agencies. Applicants should bring: • Social Security cards for all household members. • Proof of income for all household members from previous months. • Heating fuel and electric bills showing the account number and account holder’s name. No preregistration is required. Big Sandy Area Community Action Program also asks applicants for patience as staff transition to a new software system for processing applications. Residents are encouraged to gather their documents before visiting their local office.
